vAyu

vAyu also called as mukhya prANa, is the son of God. He is also known as mAtarishva. He is the life-force of the entire universe. He is the jIvottama (Superior among the souls). He occupies the same position as that of Brahma in the tAratamya list.The only difference between them is w.r.t the post currently occupied. He belongs to a special category of souls calle the R^iju yogis. He occupies the post of Brahma in the next Brahma kalpa. He is known to posess all the 32 great attributes.He is known to be the chief instrument of God in all his activities. bhArati is his consort. He is the greatest devotee of the God. He has appeared thrice to serve the Almighty as hanumAn in treta yuga, bhIma in dvApara Yuga, madhva in kali yuga.
