Garuda
Garuda is the vehicle of Supreme God viShNu. He is the controller of all Vedas. He was born off Kashpa through Vinata. He is of the form of an eagle. He is a very powerful god. He once clutched a huge elephent and a mammoth tortoise in his claws and flew to a great distance and ate them. He went to the Kingdom of God and brought nectar to free his mother from the clutches of slavery. He is the brother of all serpents. He is also the enemy of Serpents. The fearful Kaliya ran away and hid in the the River Yamuna due to the fear of Garuda. Remembering him would free one from the effects of snake poison. His grace is required for one to study the Vedas. Suparni is his consort. He is great devotee of the supreme God and occupies the 5th position in the Taratamya of souls along with Shesha and Rudra.
