daksha
daksha is one of the sons of Lord Brahma. He is born out of the thumb of Lord Brahma. He marries prasUti, the daughter of svAyambhuva manu. He is the father of Sati, wife of Lord Shiva. Once daksha insults Lord Shiva on the pretext that Lord Shiva did not stand up and pay respects to him in the court of the devas, presided over by Lord Brahma. He accuses Lord Shiva and curses him that the portions intended to him in sacrifices would not reach him. Nonetheless, he is a great devotee of supreme God and occupies 10th position in the tAratamya list along with svayambhuvamanu, brihaspati, saci, rati and aniruddha.
