anadhikairadhikaishca vayasyatho

bahubhiradhyayanoparamAntare .

anikaTe vaTubhiH paTubhirguroH

sa vijahAra sukhI sakhibhiH samam ..43..

padachChedaH:

anadhikaiH adhikaiH ca vayasi atho bahubhiH adhyayanoparamAntare .

anikaTe vaTubhiH paTubhiH guroH saH vijahAra sukhI sakhibhiH samam ..

anvayaH:

atho sukhI saH adhyayanoparamAntare vayasi anadhikaiH adhikaiH ca bahubhiH paTubhiH sakhibhiH vaTubhiH samam guroH anikaTe vijahAra ..

anvayArthaH:

atho = During the study of Vedas; sukhI = the every happy; saH = vAsudeva; adhyayanoparamAntare= during the lessons; vayasi = in age; anadhikaiH = equals; adhikaiH = seniors; ca = also; bahubhiH = many; paTubhiH = adept in sports; sakhibhiH = friends; vaTubhiH = celibates; samam = along with guroH = from Guru anikaTe = not near vijahAra = played.

Summary:

When at school studying Vedas, the ever happy vAsudeva used to play at the end of the study time with many celibate-friends of his age and also his seniors, who were very adept in sports, at places far off from the Guru’s place.
