karatale khalu kandukavat sadA

sakalayA kalayA saha vidyayA .

aridhareNa samaM sphuritaM guror-

manasi tasya viDambayato janAn ..42..

padachChedaH:

karatale khalu kandukavat sadA sakalayA kalayA saha vidyayA .

aridhareNa samaM sphuritaM guroH manasi tasya viDambayataH janAn .

anvayaH:

janAn viDambayataH tasya guroH manasi sadA sakalayA vidyayA kalayA saha aridhareNa samaM karatale kandukavat sphuritaM khalu.

anvayArthaH:

janAn = Ignorant people viDambayataH = pretending tasya = of his guroH = Guru of all manasi = in the mind sadA = always sakalayA = all vidyayA = Vedic learning kalayA saha = along with other arts such as singing and music aridhareNa = the beholder of discus (nArAyaNa) samaM = along with karatale = in the palm kandukavat = like a ball sphuritaM = flash khalu = truly.

Summary:

Truly, being the guru of all, the entire Vedic learning along with other arts such as singing and music including bhagavAn nArAyaNa(the beholder of chakra(discus)) who is cheifly extolled by them, always flash in the mind of this vAsudeva as clearly as one would see a ball held in his palm. Still, he undertook Vedic study, pretending like an ignorant person.
