stanyaM muhuH kila dadau jananI gR^ihItvA

xemAya taM kila dadhajjanako jajApa .

anyo jano.api kila lAlayati sma kintu

sarvo.api tanmukhasuhAsarasAyanotkaH .. 42

anvayaH

jananI gR^ihItvA stanyaM muhuH dadau kila janakaH taM dadhat [san] xemAya jajApa kila anyaH janaH api lAlayati sma kila kintu sarvaH api tanmukhasuhAsarasAyanotkaH ..

anvayArthaH

jananI = The mother gR^ihItvA = taking the child stanyaM = breast milk muhuH = again and again dadau kila = gave janakaH = father taM = the child dadhat san = taking into his hands xemAya = for his welfare jajApa kila = uttered holy verses anyaH = other janaH = people api = also lAlayati sma kila = fondled with affection kintu = but the true reason is sarvaH api = everyone tanmukhasuhAsarasAyanotkaH = was drawn towards the nectar of the smile on his face.

Summary:

The mother breast fed the child repeatedly. The father took him into his hands and uttered holy verses for his protection. Other people fondled him showing their affection. This is because everyone was drawn towards the nectar of the smile on his face.
