It has been said that a spiritual aspirant gets the knowledge of brahman by undertaking upAsana. But what are the fruits of the knowledge thus obtained? Some say that the spiritual aspirant gets liberated from the clutches of saMsAra and that is the only fruit of knowledge. To this we reply, apart from gaining liberation, the spiritual aspirant also gets anything he desires. The following shR^iti passage stands as a proof for this - “yaM yaM lokaM manasA saMvibhAti vishuddhasatvaH kAmayate yAMshcha kAmAn taM taM lokaM jayate tAMshcha kAmAn … (mundaka upanishad - 3-1-10) - the pure natured soul desires whichever worlds or wishes to enjoy whatever pleasures all his desires get fulfilled” .
